The Study Buddy Program was started by three high school students in the metro Detroit area who wanted to help students and their families adjust and adapt to online education and schooling. Online school brings several new challenges to both families and students, as well as teachers and administrators. We wanted to find a way to help while also ensuring the safety of students and their families. We created a program that matches each student to a high school tutor who will meet with them one to two times weekly via a Google Meet video session to help with each individual student's needs. Our hope is that by setting up each student with their own individual tutor, they will have the support needed to successfully participate in online schooling. We understand that online tutoring is not ideal, but we hope that setting up students with a tutor for one-on-one sessions will help to alleviate some of the stress and challenges that students, families, and teachers face during online schooling.
